ATTN: Kaleb..
I hear your going the Turbo route? Are you swapping Z31 or doing a custom Turbo build-up? You know if you do a custom build-up, that you will have to run low boost on the stock internals. If you upgrade the internals, you still won't be able to run high boost. The 9:1 compression factor on our VG's doesn't allow us to boost easily.. You will have problems with blowing out a cylinder with high boost. Plus, auto tranny won't handle the power. Upgraded tranny is a must. Now if you go the Z31 route, which is more ideal since it's using 7.8:1 compression and you can crank up the boost and upgrade to T5 hehehe.. but that will have alot of lag.
9:1 will take 10PSI easily. VQs have 10:1 compression and Loren runs 9PSI.
I will be using a 9:1 compression Maxima motor. If it blows, that's my mistake. Nissan pistons are forged from the factory. I will be using an intercooler so I shouldn't have a problem. I might use a Z31 crank and I'll be using a Z31 oil pan. I also have to see exactly what Nissan did to make the compression higher in our engine. If it was the crank, I'll try to use the stock one first.
The new engine will have the rings and bearings replaced, as well as some headwork. I've got some more people to talk to, so different pistons are a possibility.
I'll let you guys know.

Loren is using a Supercharger, not a Turbo so it has different effects on the engine. S/C puts more stress on the engine as Turbo will not depending on the amount of boost. It's still possible to Turbo a 9:1 compression engine but anything over 10:1 I would avoid... even 10:1 is still kind of pushing it. I would go ahead and replace the valve stems and retainers as well. I would recommend an upgrade fuel system like a Z32 pump, fuel pressure riser, and 550cc injectors. You want to have plenty of fuel or you'll end up like me and blow the engine.. That was a huge mistake my team and I did on the Z31 engine (we were waiting for the Nismo injectors to arrive but never did on time). Who will be making your exhaust manifolds and down-pipe? What type of Turbo do you plan to use? This is going to be a tough project for you... Good Luck.. hope it all works out.

I paid $180 shipped since it was a proto-type model. I think the Place Racing CAI's are going for about $225. I don't think Place Racing will sell just the tube (from TB to MAF) by itself, but it wouldn't hurt to ask them.

Kaleb, Just to let you know. If you don't go with custom headers, WarpSpeed could help you with 3# y-pipe. We will be offering a 3# version for the 4th gen Maximas. If you had different manifolds we could probaly prototype a custom y-pipe for you, other wise the current jig will probably work. Good luck on your project. Only one stipulation, I get to go for a FAST ride. Just long enough to spank a few of the VTEC honda boys and a few 5.0 Mustangs
