Automatic transmission

My automatic transmission is getting bad. When I press on the gas pedal, my RPM's goes up, but the car goes very slow. Does anybody know how much would be if I put manual transmission instead of auto?

There's a couple of recent threads regarding doing just that...do a search and you'll find everything you need. If you choose to rebuild, be prepared to take it in the shorts. I just had mine done, and I wish I hadn't.

we just completed it on my friends 91 gxe it was pretty simple the only non bolton part was the clutch pedal which we drilled the holes for them and it took 2 tries but is fine now as for cost well it dependes on what you replace and where you get all the stuff from. my friend spend about $500 we got every thing at a junk yard and had the axles rebiult. he payed about 300 for trany, clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinders and all hard line, shifter and linkage and pedal assembly. then 120 for the axles and another 80 for misc seals, master cylinder rebiuld kit and new slave cylinder. not to bad since a rebiult auto would be at least a grand but it all depends on who does it and where you get the parts from
