Another newbie question for the Knowledgeable

When I turn on my air w/o air conditioning I can smell exhaust fumes come into the cab. I am worried, but I will do any and all means necessary to fix it. Any ideas as to what it might be? Suggestions are highly appreciated.

are you sure it's exhaust fumes?
or is it gasoline?

either way, try the fresh air, then try the recycle air vents and see if it does it on one or both.
if it does it on fresh air only, then it's probably coming from under the hood- due to broken manifold studs or the like.. then getting into the a/c system via the cowl under the wipers.

It's only on fresh air only. Manifold studs--exhaust? How should I go about fixing? If you don't have time to answer cause you're a mod that's okay, I have a few days. Take you time dude.

Would it be easier to do this and KS at same time?

Okay, the smell you CAN smell under the hood but only on the passenger side towards the rear closer to the dash.

Any ideas to narrow it down?

still could be either one. manifold studs of flex section. you should be able to hear it though. stick your ear under the car as you press the gas with your hand. you dont need to rev the crap out of it just give it a few hits. you should be able to hear if the flex is bad.
