clicking when shifting

my 91se has been making this "click" sound when i shift into second. it doesnt sound bad or anything and it usually shifts smooth, except when the engine/car is cold, then its real rough. it doesnt always click though, just sometimes. also, im planning on flushing the transmission sometime, what weight and type of m/t fluid should i use? i live in sw michigan, for reference on outside temperatures.

thanks,

In general after people flush/refill their transmission they almost always report easier shifting and just overall smoothness and sometimes less noise. I'd say go ahead and change the fluid and see if it helps at all. I think it might, but if it does nothing, atleast you've done some preventitive maintence on the car.

If you go the replace the fluid route, make sure you buy a bottle that says its GL-4 Certified.

I used Amsoil 75w90 in my car, which is GL-4 cert, but I noticed the 75w140 is not GL-4 certified.

Hope this helps.
