Relation between ABS sensor and EBrake?
Relation between ABS sensor and EBrake?
The other day, I broke one of the e-brake cords, so I brought it in to the shop. They fix it no problem, but as soon as I turn my car on, the ABS light goes on. I bring it back, they tell me my ABS computer is dead...a $1200 fix and not worth it.
I then did the checked the light on the computer (I learned about this while my car was at the shop) and it gave me the code for the rear right whell sensor. Called back just a few minutes ago and asked if it was possible that they could have busted it accidently while fixing my ebrake. besides the fact that he changed his story saying taht he agreed with the new diagnostic, claiming now a $130 fix, he said it was not possible. Is this true? Could he have busted the sensor while fiddling with my brakes?
It seems only a little too coincidental that right after they work on my brakes, I get a brake-related problem. I am so heated right now...

1... what did they charge you to replace the ebrake cable?
2. it has NOTHING to do with the ABS light. they screwed something up. If you're lucky, all they did was unplug it and forgot to plug it back in. if you're not lucky, they ruined the sensor.
look around in the forsale forums for a wheel sensor. you can probably find one cheap enough there.
3. don't take it back there unless the guy agrees to fix it at no charge, because the ABS wasn't a problem until you took it to him.

Cost me $150. The guy won't fix it, that's why I think the next time I see him will be in court if he doesn't cooperate. Hopefully he'll get what's coming to him and he won't screw me. He's definetely trying to pull a fast one, I'm convinced...and absolutely apesh**.
What I meant when I asked if they could have busted it is that I think that the sensor is right next to where the ebrake cable goes, could it have been possible to bust it while fixing it, or are they not that close at all?
