Having trouble pulling the halfshaft out...

Hey,
i have a 90 5 speed, and im in the middle of pulling the drivers side halfshaft. I have everything done to pull it out, but it wont budge. Is there a trick to pulling it out?

do you have an axel puller ? they are in pretty tight.

you know when they say "gently pry the halfshaft from the transaxle"? What they really mean is get the biggest freaking prybar you can find and lean on it somethin fierce! WOOOOHOO! Got gear oil in my hair though....freaking max is making me its *****.

hehehe
use the axle as a slide hammer. push it all the way in, then jerk it out. after a few tries it'll usually come out.


getting the new one back in is the fun part!

Do as Matt said. It is very efficient!
After i messed with mine with some prybar according to what the book said, and got ****ed off,
then i dragged it out this way very quick.

it went in fairly easily. I pushed it in untill it stopped, then jammed it farther untill it was all the way in.

Many times I've had to use a 5lb dead-blow hammer to get them in. you got lucky. it all depends on how big that ring on the end of the axle is.

should you use the slide hammer method on the axle if you plan on reusing it or just if your replaceing it
