Anyone know where I can get a kit for a 1990 Maxima GXE????

 

a rebuild kit?dealer, local parts stores sometimes can get them(not the big chains) or go to a parts store online. not to be mean, a trans rebuild isnt the easiest thing in the world to do, any slight mistake will kill the tranny a month (or less) later. i took my car to the same a$$hole 2 times because he couldnt install the front main seal properly before i paid someone else to do it again

 

Dealer didn't have it. They told me they carry all parts seperate.
Part stores here don't know what their doing. They had no idea what I wanted. One even tried to sell me a filter kit. We all know that to change the filter you need to open up the trans. So he knew nothing at all.
Used to get them from a parts store that closed down. Now it seems no one carries them here. Used to be ATP and Borg Warner brands.
Rebuilding it is not a problem. I used to rebuild all kinds of auto and standard trans. Built them for racing. GM, Ford, Mopar, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, a few FWD but mostly RWD. I wish Maximas were RWD.

Carparts.com didn't have it.
People at NAPA didn't even know what they weere doing. Told me only the dealer carried it. Got out of there real fast.
Living in hawaii all my life. Seen lots of changes. With the computer, parts store counter pepole no longer need to know anything. All they have to know is how to punch in numbers. Checkers and NAPA are the worse, with CarQuest and Parts Plus not much better.

The economy is so bad here parts stores are closing down all over the place. Checkers came in and made their prices so low no one could compete. We have Auto Value, Carquest and NAPA, but their no better than Checkers. Most of the privately owned stores changed to the big three to just try to stay in business.
I don't think checkers would make a good fast food joint. I can't see giving the make, model, and serial number just to order a burger!!!
