Just bought a 92 Maxima...my first Nissan...got a few Q's

I just got a 92 GXE, 135,000 on it, unfortunatly it's an automatic, my Uncle owns an Aamco transmission shop, and he can give me a good deal but is it worth it? I know that the manual will crush auto. How and where can i get my hands on a manual trans? This car has been very well maintained, I have all the documents. Tell me as much as you can about maintainence, I will be changing my own oil, waht filter and oil do you recomend, standard oil has been used throughout the life of the car, I was thinkning of switching to a synthetic blend, anything other information you can give me would be great.

Yeah using synthetics should be no problem. I starting using mobil one since 150,000 miles. No leaks and actually got rid of some of the ticking on the VG motor
