Is the trans wrong?
I'm just bought a 89 Maxima (Auto trans) days ago. But I didn't find there is a key problem that it can't be speeded up when it's running at the speed of 20Km, 40Km or around 30Km sometimes when I bought it. It seems sth. wrong with the trans since I can hear the sound of transmitting when I try to speed up. Is there anyone can tell me what's wrong with my car? And how can I avoid this situation or change it when it happens. Thanks!

pretty vague description, but it very well could be the tranny is going out on you. first thing.. try flooring it and see if it kicks down a gear or two. if it doesn't, then it could be a bad throttle position sensor, or the transmission itself.
I suggest taking it to a shop and let them diagnose it. usually it's only a few bucks and will save you time and money in the long run- instead of replacing a bunch of parts that don't need it.

1. The situation is happenning sometimes, not always.
2. It will happen when i'm accelerating to and across some specific speed, such as 20km or 40km, then, the display oftachometer will jump from 2 to 4 or 5, then back, then 4 or 5 again. ( I can hear the sound of changing gears now, and continuesly)
3. I try to depress the accelerator pental to the floor, the situation is not changing. And the speed will keep on a stable one, for example, 42km. It won't change whatever I do, unless I depress the brake pental.
I hope I have made myself clear. It's not happening all the times, and I don't know if there are some other problems with my car, so I don't know if it's reasonable to change transmission now. Hope you can give me some advices on how to determine which parts are wrong. Thanks.
Sounds like either the trans valve body is giving you grief, the tranny computer's playing around, or there's a bad throttle position sensor. At worst, it's the tranny itself.
Make a note of when the fault happens - after you've been stop / start city driving for a while or at any time. This could help in the diagnosis.
Then, search thru the FAQ, find the tranny diagnostics page & run them - esp after it's just played up & see if a component is not faulting out.
Second, change the trans fluid - twice. Check all eletrical connectors around the tranny are secure.
Third, do as Matt93SE suggests - take it to a tranny shop & expect to hear the worst - it may not be that bad.
Hey Eddie - where you been?

yeah, sounds like it could be many things, but it's definitely tranny related. could be slipping clutches or a bad shift solenoid, or even a bad computer causing the solenoids to act up. could also be a clogged valve body. many many things can go wrong here. In any case, I would suggest going to a tranny shop and have them check it out. it may be as simple as a new shift solenoid, or it may need a complete rebuild because the clutches are worn out. with cars this old, it's not surprising.
