I dont actually have a maxima but I've got a jdm vg30et engine that I'm swapping into my z31 and its got the same intake as the maxima. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out the powervalve that sits at the flywheel end of the intake. Can any of you guys explain how this thing works? I dont have a maxima ecu so I'd like to see if I can rig up something to turn it on at the same point that the max ecu would. Any information on when it closes or opens would be appriciated. I have a good feeling it would be in the factory service manual if any of you guys would be kind enough to scan the pages. Thanks.

I'm not willing to scan the FSM pages for copyright purposes, but I will tell you that the power valve opens via a vacuum switch at about 3500-4000 rpm when the engine is under heavy throttle.
you can probably just use a window switch and a vacuum solenoid connected to the surge tank to open the valve at 4000 rpm or so and you'll be okay. dyno tuning is definitely suggested, as it cause a loss of abotu 15hp on my VE if you open it at the wrong time.

window switch is a type of RPM trigger. window switch opens at xxx rpm and closes at yyy rpm.
an rpm trigger opens at xxx rpm and stays open until it drops down below that. actually, that's what you need.
I forget what rpm it opens at, and I didn't see it when I looked through the FSM. that's best done by playing on a dyno anyway- especially since it's not a 'regular' VG30E (or a VE30DE that I have experience with) .. you'll lose a ton of power if you don't have it in the right spot, so just play with it and see what happens.
