some more

The tray under the radio changed. from 89 - 91, it was a swing out door, like mine on my website. I have my CD changer control in there. For 92-94, it's a unit that extends out with a bin. For these and other changes, refer to my website, specifally "model comparison."

Also along the lines of the speedo, the rpm redline is higher, the OD light is different in that it is spelled out instead of a separate light. Also, for the SE's, the trunk opener is not a lever, but rather a button.

I wonder if I remembered these on my site?

Heh..

Well my '90 GXE happens to have the button for the trunk, in a really akward spot on the door, and the nice door for the compartment underneath the radio. I just wish it wasn't about a 1/4" too short to hold jewel cases..oh and I think they changed they taillights too..not too sure about that though.

Yes, the GXE's have the button because they have the keyless entry, which electrically controls the opening of the trunk.

Yes, as to exterior differences, the tailights changed on the SE model from Black(89-91) to Red(92-94). As for the GXE, I really don't know if there was change on the back tail lights.

The script on the gauges also changed. The plastic bezel around the radio/climate control changed, and I am not sure on this one, but did the center armrest change?

good catch Tom, that plastic benzel did change in that there are no screws above the stereo.

As for the armrest, in the two 91's I've owned, I've had two different armrests. On my white SE, I had a small one, but on my current one, it's larger, so I don't think those are year specific.

I'm updating my website now under "model comparison." If you have a chance, take a look to see if I missed anything.

The panel around the radio has changed. I actually did the swap in my 91 Se. It is a much cleaner look, the radio and the compartment are flush with the dash instead of set in. The Power trunk release WAS added on the 92-94 SE models. It was not available on the 89-91 Se models. The VE motor was added, The taillights are changed, I also believe that the map lights are different in the 92-94 but not sure. CD option was also added I believe. The front grilles are different too. Brian91SE do you have ABS in your 91 SE? I do in mine and I havent seen 89-91 with it very often.

tail lights...

The 89-91 SE tail lights are tinted with a black center panel. The 89-91 GXE tail lights have the same same as the 89-91 SE but are not tinted and have a red center panel. The 92-94 SE tail lights are tinted with red tinted center panel. The 92-94 GXE tail lights are the same shape as the 92-94 SE tail lights but are not tinted and have a non-tinted red center panel.

Bryan.. I think I want to add a link to your site from my site for reference since you have some very good info.

Skymax - go ahead and link away, just no cutting and pasting :-). I think I have you in my links. It's a good idea to have our sites linked because we all have somewhat different info. This will be a good source for new and existing members. I think we have the comparison nailed down pretty well on the models, I've been tinkering with that page, trying to get all the details for quite awhile now.

So as far as the tail lights (not the center piece), the 89 - 91 GXE's are not as tinted as the 92 - 94 GXE's? Okay, now the centerpiece - the 89 - 91 GXE's center piece are less tinted than the 92 - 94 GXE's?

Clark- I didn't know the electric trunk release button was optional in the 89 - 91 SE's - thanks for bringing that to my attention. I don't think the map lights changed in any of the third generations though. The CD player was an option in the earlier models. My friend's old 90 SE had the CD player hooked up to the old Bose unit. As for ABS, both of my 91's do/did not have it.
