We were all newbies at one point. and most people don't read faqs or rules before they post.
It's the members who have a few posts under their belt and still don't use the search THOSE are annoying. But sometimes we all do it any ways

obviously its a short. if you have a fluke or another type of multimeter you can trace out the shorts. the locks may be the lock timer which is under the dash right side. looks like box about 5 by 6 in size. the windows not working could be the relay jump the relay to check that. if not the switches may be where the short is. as far as hitting the brakes and the dash lights up well thats a new one that ive ever heard. LOL its apparent thats also a short. just do some investigating

Hehehe.... I had the brake turning on the dash thing happen to me before. Don't know if you'll have the exact same problem, but with mine what happened was, one of the taillight bulbs burnt out and melted part of the harness which tripped a fuse killing my gauge lights. The gauges would only light up when I tapped the brakes, and the tails were out (it was fun having a couple friends try to keep up with my black Max with no tails at night ).

Oh yeah, your window regulators might be broken too, hence the non working windows (they're known to go out on our cars).

The clocks are known to go out as well... you can either buy a used one off of an org member or eBay. Or you can choose to fix it yourself by resoldering some connections... check out Craig's site for info on that and a whole mess of other 3rd gen stuff.

Check all your fuses and relays and you ought to be able to ferret out all the problems.

Like a lot of the members have said... the search function will be your best friend.

Enjoy your new Max, and welcome to the Org.
