Indiglow Gauges!

hey hey, i'm new to this place and new to the wonderful world of nissan...anyway, just bought a 1990 SE a few weeks ago - my first car, and i'd like to make the interior a little more prettier than it already is. i'm planning on buying these indiglow guages (http://custommaxima.com/ReverseIndiglo8994.php), but i'd like a little input from you guys...anyone have experience with these? do they last and are they reliable, or will i have to change them sometime in the near future? i've gotten a few estimates for installing them (don't know how to do it myself) around $60-100; anyone have any advice for me, any reasons to not get these? has anyone dealt with custom maxima (the store) ?

many thanks.

the ones you linked to will only work if you get a 92-94 SE speedo. your current speedo goes up to 125. I personally don't like the look of the indiglo gauges. the reverse I can tolerate, but the only way they look good is if you replace the dash lights with red or blue so the needles glow a different color.

First of all: Welcome!!

this forum is probebly the best on the net!!
im sure it will help you alot! it did for me!

soo, you want to get some indiglows?

i love them! i have them on my max for 2 years now and their still working great!

i bought them from ebay for the same price, but i installed them my self.

its actually simple, all u need to do is remove some screws, take apart most of the driver's side panels, remove the instrument panel, and then slide the new gauges on top of the old ones.
but dont forget to change the needle bulbs to blue ones! or it would look weird.

if your not sure about doing it yourself just pay for it!
but if you have any worries about it lasting, DONT!
i had myn for 2 years now, works great and i think i like it (and get compliments from people) the most out of all the mods on my car.

if you want to check out myn heres a link to my web page:

ohh yah good point!!

dont make the same mistake i did!!

if your current gauges go up to 125, find the indiglows that go up to 125!!!!
dont get the 145 ones, cause your needle wont be currect and you wont know what your actual speed is.

i think custom maxima has an option to get either the 125 or 145
but if they dont then find them on ebay.

Dude, just do it yourself. I went in not knowing what I was doing, but two hours later, i had my gauges and glow pedals wired. The power source is your cig lighter. Connect the black wire from the main part of the lighter and the red and yellow wire to your gauges. if for some reason your display and parking lights stop working, you blew your tailamp fuse. replace it with another fuse of the SAME rating.

thanks for the replies guys

what's the difference between the reverse glow and the 2 color? yes i see your point about the 125 and 145 gauges...god damnit, i can't find them in 125 anywhere - anyone know of a place?

westsider - nice maxima!! looks just like mine...only you have a nicer tint, a painted grille, and some ****** stole the nissan cap off my rims. the bolts and stuff show =\. i can't believe yours is an 89 and looks that good!

about the needle - changing the light is no big deal or what? does that affect only the needles? what kind of bulb do i need for it?

....and on a slightly related note, if anyone wants a set of indiglo gauges, I've got 2 that I wanna get rid of. PM me if interested.
(and now, back to our regularly scheduled thread...)

you know...I can tell you how much to turn the pot resistor on the back of your speedo to make it into a 145 speedometer... I'll post a write-up when I get a chance to take my gauges off.

hey man, thanx! i know, i try to keep my car clean!
no one believes me when i tell them its an 89!

anyway, about the gauges:

it really is easy bro!

you can do it yourself, if you want, give me your email address and ill send you a more detailed exp on how to do it!

now, i looked around for you and i went to: www.procarparts.com

and i found you the 125 MPH gauges.

here's the skew num:

NIS-MAX-8994-WHXX-25XX-RVGX

those are the exact ones i got!
and they go for 34 buck i think so good price too!
just type it in the skew search box, and go from there.
now, about the needles, you need the 194 bulbs.
i think you need like 4 or 5, get them in blue they look real good!

and yah their only going to light up your needles, dont worry!
so thats about it!
hope this helps!

yeah, I should have some pictures of the back of the gauges that show the pot resistor and other differences/etc. feel free to use them if you want.

I don't think they are painted. I think it is just the glare and the fact that they are clean.

hay ya'all! no man the stock rims in the pic are not painted, they look like they do because of the light. (LA sun!)

and yah the white american racing rims are not real its a photo shop pic i did to see how they would look on my car.

they look real good, but the biggest size i could find them in was 17"
and 17" wont look half as big as in the pic and i want it big!

so, still lookin i guess!
