what is rarity of red SE 5spd?

i have not seen many red maximas in general. when i do, it turns my head. so are the red ones fairly uncommon, then? rarer still, is a red SE 5spd pretty hard to encounter? does it carry any prestige?

Yes.

Red color carries highest insurance premium by the way.

Spipedong92se has one.

And my car is "Red" on my insurance and registration (even though it's actually Ruby Pearl/Dk Red.)

here's the dig, fellas:

a collegue of mine has a red 3rd gen (90 SE 5spd). it turned my head when i first encountered it, and was in above average repair. for nearly a year, he would off-and-on mention "getting a new a car." as it goes, i have a pearl white 90 SE 5spd. so this collegue and i became sort of maxima buddy-like with this commonality, as it lead to car talks - he would occasionally ask me what i had recently "done" to my maxima (mods, etc).

anyway, to cut to the chase, 3 days ago, after a meeting, he said "finally i'm gonna sell maxi. i found an impala SS." and i said "oh, really. i used to have an impala, too."

impressed that we had such common tastes, he said "those old maximas aren't worth that much anymore, probably." i said "well, bluebook, no, but to an enthusiast they are of considerable value."

he then said "well, i was thinking about a grand."

i then said "what?! -- it is worth more than that!"

he said, pausing, then speaking "weeellll. to a friend a grand."

i said "dude, it is sold."

i then wrote a check in front of his face and bought it. now i have 2 1990 SE 5spds. one pearl white. one red. i know they are both VGs, but i don't care.

time to mod again. anyone have any spare fidanza flywheels laying around?

Mine is a red 5-speed. And, my insurance rates aren't any higher. My insurance company doesn't even know what color my car is because they've never seen it.

Maybe Nissan sent more red ones to the NW. I have seen three others in the Portland area, but I don't know if they were 5-speeds. Both that I saw had the newer grill (post-91) on them and looked stock.

That's unusual. All insurances I know have a visual inspection.

I've never seen a red maxima in person, that's really sad, but I guess there's not as many maximas in my area, which I love. I now own three(okay two, one is for parts) But I do plan on owning every Maxima in Nova Scotia. Damion's is next!

Probably just a state law or something. We dont even have visual car inspections at emissions testing, and my insurance company has never seen my maxima or mustang, unless they drove out to my house and saw them or something.

so the red ones must be special max's. i think even rarer still are red 4th gens. i have seen only one in my life so far. and it looked awesome in that color. it was an SE. i have never seen a red 5th gen. red is not common on skylines, either. although the newest skyline, the V35 coupe specifically, i have seen in red badged as the G35. and there are plenty of red 350Z cars out there.

perhaps nissan wants to avoid the cliche of the red sports car image. and when they do use it, it really stands out as unusual and is highly effective. i think red 3rd gens look ****.

Did you have another red one before that?

I had a gold (pebble beige or whatever) 92 SE 5-speed before. I liked it better. More of a sleeper. People see a red car with a spoiler and they always want to race me. I haven't been pulled over yet, but the car does stand out a lot more than the other Max colors.

I had a red GXE before this, and it was more of a plush car, didn't handle as well, but absorbed bumps nicely, especially compared to ST.

My first Max was a red 5-speed VE, and even though it was the cleanest car on the block I only got head turns when I barked 2nd gear. I've only seen 2 other ones though in MN...

My Dk Red 93 SE 5spd has cloth interior, heated mirrors (which I think are stock on all SE's) and no sun roof.

I've got leather, heated mirrors and roof.

no abs, no airbag.

my first car (pebble beige) was the same package except it had abs. It also had an engine block heater, but I don't know if that was stock or not.
