Some VE engine pics, 165k miles of fun.
Well guy's I'm bored, so it's time for some pictures.
Here are some pictures of a VE with 165,000 miles on it that I tore apart alittle over a year ago.
Piston:

It had/has alot of carbon on it. Almost makes you want to tear apart your engine and clean it all off.
Cams, Sprockets, VTC, Rockers, Valve Cover Studs, Head Bolts, and Cam Caps (? hehe)

Needs to be freshed up. The slight oxidation is because I used a heated pressure washer to clean it instead of Hot Tanking it.

Guys, even engines with 165k miles on them are still well within factory spec. The cylinder taper is almost nothing on the engine. All the bearing clearances are well with-in spec, the valvetrain is in good shape. The only thing I will be doing to this engine is honing and re-ringing it, and rebuilding the VTC's. I also cleaned out all of the coolant and oil passages, and will use new gaskets and sealant, plus cleaning all the electrical connections. Once its all cleaned up it will look brand new, and perform just as well.
I'm probably going to take out spark plugs and try and get a look at my pistons in my 92se, I ran alot of seafoam threw it so there should be minimal carbon build.
Another thing, It looks like we could get alot more power out of the VE by boreing it out.

I believe the engine only used conventional oil. I never had this motor in one of my cars. I cant remember if it had bosch or ngk plugs, but I know they were coppers. I still have they laying around (and labeled).
