This afternoon I flipped and totaled my maxima, no one was hurt execpt for my pide and my max. It sucked, I lost control on a dirt road, went into the ditch and flipped it right over into a horse pasture and came to rest on the electric fence. So the car is gone, but i have a rusty POS sentra that I'm going to drive till I find a new maxima... So should I go with another 3rd gen or a 4th gen?

Whichever you like better. Either choice is a great car as you already know.

personally i like the sporty look of the 3rd gen. but then again the 4th gen has the VQ motor. 4th gen looks like a family sedan 3rd gen looks meaner. 4th gens have BOOOOST kits available. we dont. hummm....

I would have a very hard time turning down a VQ 5spd.

Had a 6/84 max last produced with RWD they switched that month to FWD .
I really wanted to swap in a 280Z turbo motor to it but rust got to bad

Sorry to hear about your car. Sounds like you are alright. If you decide to part the 3rd gen you crashed, let us know.

If I were you, I'd buy a Hummer, that way it'll be harder to flip.

Ok, I did some searching and these are the cars that I found forsale in my area that I was even remotely interested in... I found a 93 Maxima SE 5 speed but it is need of some body work and some interior work and it doesnt have a sunroof.... Its White with some rust around the wheel wells and under the spoler, where it is lifted up... I was thinking about getting it and fixing it as I go, it also had some engine troubles but runs... so if I get this car I will most likley be keeping my max as a parts car for this car but if I get another kind of car then you can tear my car apart, but I get dibs on the engine and tranny so basically what is left is the trunk lid, the interior, and 2 new headlights(stock) but I will keep you posted on the parts situation.... The other cars I found are as follows: a 1983 bmw 533-i 5spd, gold(Not to crazy bout the color but I cant be too picky)... another one that I am seriously considering is a 1995 *cough* Honda *cough* accord EX, loaded with a V-6, leather, sunroof and a 5spd but this car is a tan/champagne colored and im not too fond of that color... 1996 Subaru Legacy, 4wd, 5spd, sunroof and leather...

Wow! Sounds like my story! Various things on my maxima were starting to go - the trans was slipping, needed new control arms, etc. I just said, Fxck It!, and bought myself a 1998 200SX

it's a nice car, nowhere near as comfortable, but it runs like it's new and has no problems The great gas mileage doesn't hurt either

IMO: f*ck the honda -for the principle of it. it is the enemy. f*ck the kraut car (beemer)-- too expensive to fix, boring body style -would be fast, though. and would handle very nicely.

get the other maxima and use your extant max as parts car. or consider an S13 or S14. you can grab a nice-ish S13 for cheap, modded a bit, and will be RWD 2-dr sports car (S13's are so numerous and omnipresent that they are practically giving them away). S14, to me, is better looking but pricier. less of them made. harder to find.

or go with the soobie. that would be my only serious choice of what you have mentioned other than the replacement maxima idea. that AWD thing is awesome.

The Legacy is a good choice but doesn't have the reliability of Nissan. The Maxima is the always the 1st choice, but stick with the 3rd gen unless your a boost head then the 4th gen is a better fit.

It doesn't?
I loved my Legacy sold it only cause it had no A/c not to mention any other options besides A/T and cassette . actually it was good that way, Less weight I'd still be driving it if it had A/C
It makes most cars look slow.
argue if you want but it was not beaten in a street race.
