I think its a 36mm socket. I always took it out by using an impact gun. I guess if you use a big breaker bar you should be able to loosen it. Also sears should carry a 36mm socket or any place that sells tools. A car parts store should carry it and they should also know what size is the right size.

I believe it's a 36mm.
I bought a 1-7/16" socket and a big freakin breaker bar from sears for it. I'm not sure if you can get a socket that big in 1/2" drive, but mine is 3/4" drive and I've got a 3/4" to 1/2" adaptor so I can use the socket in my impact wrench when I'm doing work at home.

I got my socket from Autozone and the breaker bar both in 1/2" drive.

I don't have an impact gun. I had to jump on the breaker bar a couple of times to get it loose. good luck

you sure your socket is 2/4" drive? the standard sizes are 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4".

I got mine from sears and had to use a 5 foot extender on my breaker bar and olympic "cling and jerk" style it. jumping on mine didn't loosen the nut at all. when it finally gave, it made a loud snap and I thought I broke it good luck

Yeah I am pretty sure he meant 3/4...just because the ones you listed are standard doesnt mean they dont make larger ones. I have a whole 3/4" socket set myself...and thats what I used when I did my axles.

LOL I just re-read my post from last night. I must have been tired or something because it looks like i was being a smart-a$$. I really wasnt though.

Here is a pic of the socket set I have. Its just a cheapy set my dad picket up a while back and it sort of found its way to my house LOL. It comes in handy on axle nuts but thats about all I have found I needed it on.
