speaker problem
speaker problem
I think my internet connection may be having issues. So here is my third try. Basically I have no sound in the left speaker and rear speakers only come on randomly. Most of the time they are on when the weather is real warm/hot. So far from reading some threads, I'll start with the connections in the back of the radio. I notice there is a amp in the trunk (Clarion) and has a red fuse. Im thinking of replacing the fuse too. Where would be a good place to start troubleshooting? Im stomped at why the left front spaeker doesnt not work and the right front speaker does

I would recommend you just pull it all out and buy a HU and four new speakers. That, or go all out and buy amps and subs. The stock systems in our 10-15 year-old cars aren't very good by today's standards and decent aftermarket stereo equipment is very affordable.

I think if you scrounge around on ebay, check the f/s forums here and look for good deals all around, you could come up with complete system for a few hundred bucks.
If your factory system is shot, you will spend almost as much trying to replace that. A bose CD player for our cars usually goes for more than a decent used alpine CD player on ebay.
BTW, if the guy is a doctor, he should be able to afford a cd player and four speakers for his car

1. not everyone has a couple hundred bucks to spare.
2. you can be a dr. and still not have money (at least for the first couple of years)

1. Head unit (very common) - your options are to buy a used factory or aftermarket one (without CD player) for $10-15 or used/new aftermarket CD player for $25-... from ebay;
2. wires connections are bad - headunit, rear amp, speakers (check visually and/or with meter)
3. bad/cut speaker wires (check with meter)
4. bad rear amp (?) - get color coding and connect a good working amp to check (I don't know any other simple way)
5. bad speakers (?) - don't think so but check visually if wires inside of the speakers are connected properly to the output contacts
PS: As a matter of fact I have a Clarion CD player (BD216) with a pre-wired connector for Maxima'92 (just plug it in). If you are interested I'll sell it to you for $50. It's almost new and the only thing which is wrong with it - very bright blue display (no dimming).
