I am planning on purchasing a 93 or 94 SE. What are the typical mechanical problems with these particular years? Anything special I should look out for? TIA.

Bad VTCs...

You can detect these thingies if you hear a ticking sound when you start the car up. There is other stuff.... If my case, the automatic transmission died at 86k miles, which isn't a lot at all. Be careful,

good luck

Bad VTC's- Ticking at startup
Broken/missing exhaust manifold studs- Ticking type sound that increases as your speed increases.
Also, like Nyce Max said, careful with the tranny. Make sure it works good in all situations.

BTW, Jacob, good luck with that SE. $9K+, LOL.

NYC GXE: So you don't want to buy it then?

To make such a comment you must really know my car well, not to mention the market in my area! You are a moron - your opinion is worth almost what I paid for it. If I really wanted to sell the car (which I don't) I would advertise it for a selling price. But hey - why am I even responding - it's not like you have seen my car or even know what you are talking about.

Dont get so touchy you F'n J/Off, I wasnt taking a shot at you (At that point). I see cars like yours in incredibly mint condition with similar mileage going away for $6K every wednesday at the Bordentown, NJ NADA (Dealer) auction.

If you can pull it off, more power to you. Although I dont know if there other people like yourself roaming around anywhere.

Ha ha ha!!!

You're comparing a private party sale to a dealer auction? Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright.. I would expect my car or one like it to fetch around $6k at such an event.

But, I do not want to sell my car - in fact I just sold my 300ZX today, so I can take the Maxima off the market. If some moron called up and told me I was asking too much for my car, I would tell him that if he could find one in equal condition for less money to buy that one. I scanned the classifieds - the usual high mileage crap for not much less than my car.

It just makes me laugh when anyone on a web board or whatever posts a car for sale. There is always some fool that pipes up and says it's not worth that. You were that fool today. You don't know the car, the situation or anything. Your "Knowledge-Free" value estimation is worthless in everyday life, and doesn't even have anything to do with my, my car, my situation, the market to buy my car, or even this topic!!

If you have any more wisdom (heh) to share with me, please email me privately because I doubt anyone else wants to be bothered by it.

And have a nice day!

It was just my opinion to begin with. Thats what these forums are for. Take it as it is, dont get so touchy. Your making me sick with your posts already, dont be so uptight.

Your right about one thing, other people surely shouldnt have to read this. So just leave it at that.
