Other than a total lack of sense, a roll cage, and a pair of race buckets? How much hp do you think will overcome the drag of the car?

I think $3500 will do my turbo project. The rest is for suspension and a roll cage Werd..

About 700 hp I would guess->

plus some TALL ASSED GEARING! Pushing bricks though air is not the ideal thing

To be honest, the MAx is actually a pretty aerodynamic car.. it's not 200mph worth of aerodynamic, but it's a lof better than most boats on the road. drag coefficient it quite a bit lower than 95% of the cars out there.

just thoguht I'd throw that in. it'd still take hells HP to get to 200mph. I'd say you need at least 500hp and the gearing. With GKE-auto stock gearing and tires, it would take a GXE max to ~6500 RPM to get to 200mph.
(that's going from my 4300rpm shot at 132mph. do the math, and it comes out to 6515rpm at 200mph).
sooo, you'd need either larger tires, taller gearing, or one hell of a rev limiter increase on my Max!
I dunno if the gearing in the SE auto is the same or not. I think the final gear is shorter in the 5spd though. you'd need even more revs to hit it in a 5 spd.

Hmm...

I don't see the point to go that fast in a Maxima, but since it seemed entertaining, here's my $0.02 worth.

For the engine, I thought about a VG30DETT (ideal) with the boost tuned up and nitrous but wouldn't fit in the engine compartment. You guys figure this one out.

A stock Acura NSX can do 167 MPH with just 290 HP, Porsche 959 did 198 MPH with 465 HP back in 1987. A 1998 Viper GTS does 203 MPH with 600 HP and a 1993 ZR-1 did 181 with 405 HP

Considering the stock aerodynamics of the Max (CD of 0.33 if I remember correctly), it can probably do 200 MPH with 550-600 HP with the right gearing.

Re: About 700 hp I would guess->

considering that the max is onmy .02 higher in drag coeff than a Z my gues would be 450-500 hp. don't forget the car is fairly light. If you rip out all non essentials (read leave metal only) i bet you could do it with gear ratio changes.
