Muffler Questions

Well I received my Warpspeed Y pipe on Monday and i am going to get the rest of the exhaust but I want to finish it off with a nice muffler. Not bees in a coffee can either !! Has anyone used a Powertone muffler? It looks pretty nice but so do all of them until you crank up your car. Magnaflow has been high on my list but I just dont know which one to put on. Help me please !!

If you do a search you'll see the assorted opinions on mufflers.
Magmaflow appears to be the prefered muffler.
Arcticdc5 picked up the 14815 in magnaflow from me. It looks like an almost direct bolt in but you will need some sort of a bracket to install it or any other muffler besides stock.

I have a magnaflow with a full WSP exhaust. It sounds great but it is very loud, even with a resonator. The oval magnaflows aren't long enough to properly muffler the exhaust from our engines. It does have a great tone though. I have the 14829 I think.

what size resinator did you end up getting. I am going to get it in like 24" to quiet it down a bit. Just put the y-pipe on yesterday. NICE. Did you replace your cat to?

Uhhh, I don't know exactly what size it is.....maybe 18"? I don't think a 24" one would even fit anywhere on the cat-back piping, but if it can, that's what I recommend you get. I just ordered the b-pipe from WSP and they sent me the "normal" sized resonator.

I was just thinking about this today. So you have no muffler and just a pipe? How does it sound? Loud? Quiet?

not bad actually a little higher pitch than I'd like but that I'll probably tune a little later once I do a Y-pipe
Definitely not too loud nor is it whisper quiet I think it's a good medium decibel wise

Dallas said that a 24 would be tight but will fit. So if it saves me some sanity then I will take it. I would rather be happy the first time then have to get another one. Expecially when I read several posts here that people said that they wished they had at least a 20 with the magniflow.

Would you say it is louder then an aftermarket muffler? Or is just a bit louder then a stock muffler?

cneary- It'll still be emissions legalas long as the cat stays. and the cops won't bother me, they buy from me
And for torque I plan on supertrapping it

Maximauy719- About the same as an aftermarket muffler I guess. Don't know how stock is supposed to sound. My car had a rotted cat back when I bought it.

well in that case more flow is better. The Y is SWEEEEEEEET you will love it. I just don't care for too loud of an exhaust in a daily driver car. And since I really don't know how the magniflow will sound in person I don't want it to sould like rice. So it is better to be safe than sorry. Not to mention that I spoke with Dallas about it extensively.

I have a turbo style muffler and it's about 60-75% of the volume of a straight through, and with a resonator it should be a healthy, not droning growl.
