Breathe deeply..gasp..my insurance
Can someone pour me a drink? Just got my new insurance statement..whereas before...before wreck of jeep in Dec, I was paying $552 a YEAR....my new statement, showing the GXE max, in addition to the son, now asks for $521 a quarter..or $2084 a year. Yikes! This is not even counting any rate increase I get for that GXE being wrecked...and now driving a SE. I will definitely search around and get quotes on a new carrier but then with two totalled cars in two months, they probably won't like me either. I guess if the wording of the questions is "have you had an accident in the last 3 years..?" I can answer "no". If it reads "have you filed a claim against your insurance in the last three years?" then I have to say "yes, two totalled vehicles"... :-((
Glad I paid cash for the car because this is nearly a car payment in itself.Iguess I should be thankful for the "preferred client discount" rating they have me. :-)

You're telling this to a group of ~4000 YOUNG MALE DRIVERS. we're all very familiar with that number! (sucks, don't it?)
Right now, I pay $1700/year, and that's the cheapest I've ever had.
then again, my number of speeding tickets is close enough to my social security # that I get them confused sometimes.
the only thing I cam recommend that you do is have your son listed as ONLY driving his car (exclude him from the Max altogether, so he's never allowed to drive it and is only allowed to drive his car- which gets you ahead in that aspect anyway)
it's one good way to keep him out of the max, and it'll help lower the insurance, as I'm sure putting his name on comprehensive with the Max is what caused it to skyrocket.
I suggest only carrying liability on his car too, but then again it may be a good idea to keep him on full coverage incase he turns his own car into a beer can too.
basically rambling here, but you've got a few options to lower your rates.
Oh.. also..
BOTH of you should take a "driver improvement course".. it's basically 1 8 hour day of driver's ed all over again, but your insurance company is required by law to drop your rates 5-15% because you voluntarily took this course. neato stuff, huh?

ohh this is scary stuff......
.. Good thing I have my dad
His driving record has been clean of accidents and tickets for probably 8 or 9 years now, my father also told them my max and his SAble has ABS and dual air bags, which dropped insurance cost a little bit... I don't think he still reported me as a driver in the household. I'm not on the insurance and registration of the max, because I remember getting a quote for my self when I was 17, the ****ing thing was over 3,000!!!!! and thats for basic liability!!!!!
After we moved, we are now paying about 1,000 bux for 2 cars for the year! However, if my max gets stolen, broken into, burned down, flooded, vandelized, stripped.... insurance covers NOTHING. sucks, but hey... what can I do.
My brother who is 24 now (i think) is paying about 2 grand for his 99' Corolla.

I guess im lucky!!
i pay for my 93' max Se 1400 a year ( 21 year old driver) that has had 2 wrecks in the past 3 years, the last one being last october, and enough tickets for the judge to take 5 minutes to read them all out and say " if you get another i will take away your liscense." so i guess im pretty damn lucky to only pay what i pay for insurance, AND THATS FULL COVERAGE.. lol...

BLah Blah Blah
My insurance is $36/month for liability. I'm 26 and I've had a DWI, but I beat it in court. It was worth every penny of $1500 to beat the rap. (I'm in no way advocating drinking and driving but **** happens at the University of Arkansas)
With age comes wisdom and...
Cheap car insurance! I'm probably an old fart compared to most of you, but with age (I'm 33) comes the wisdom to save the racing for the autocross track, thus saving your driving record. It also has you and your squeeky-clean record only paying $560 per year insurance on your "maxmizd 94 SE!" You're not a kid forever, but there is something to look forward to.
Re: HAHAHAHAHAHA
dude, before you cancel with progressive, take a look around everywhere else. I'm with progressive now, and it's less than HALF what everyone else wanted.

I know what you all feel. I had my previous car (1988 Caprice) stolen once and broken into once. With Allstate, coverage for Maxine is around $1400/yr. That is with the fact I have ABS, Airbags, Anti-theft system, and good driver discount.
OK FOR SOME REASON YOU GUYS THINK YOU HAVE IT BAD. FOR ME TO OWN MY 2001 SE THE INSURANCE WAS 3300 EVERY SIX MONTHS, OR OVER 7000 ****ING DOLLARS. **** THAT, I LET MY MOM CO-OWN IT AND ITS DOWN TO 2400 EVERY SIX MOMTHS.
7 grand a year is rape... period. i thought 2800/year with a "bad" record (suspension/speeding ticks./1 accident) was bad. i am with progressive and they seemed to be the cheapest. by a couple hundred a year.
feel for you bro... 7k (repeating it silently to myself to see if the shock lessens from the first time i read the post)

here we go again... well im with AAA and im 16, clean drivers discount and good grades crap and im still 2400 bucks a year.. but thats beacuse my liabilty is almost max becuase my mom is paraniod bout me killing someone on the road and being sued... i also have coverage on my car still. it all depends on what options you choses, i could have 500 $ a year insurance too, but if i got in an accident and was sued, my parents would lose the house.. after i turn 18 like my bro i will get ona seperate rate and it should go down alot, since ill have a lot less liability on myself. if i get sued ill have nothing to lose except my credit!! heh, but i really dont plan on crashing my max anytime soon
$560 annually also for my Max
29 yrs old, married, multi-car (have Camry also)/multi-line (have house insured w/ same company also), clean record, This is full-coverage too.
I live in the Seattle suburbs. I imagine it's even lower in rural areas.
