What ever happened to the GD on these? Did it ever fall through? If it did, where can I get some damn coilovers! lol
Don't you guys remember the GD that they had a while back? They were like an outrageous $1800 or something for the set?
It wasn't a group deal as in, they were paying to get them made.

I'm just curious as to what some of you think a GOOD set of coilovers(one-piece strut/spring type, not "ricer sleeves") should cost?? $1000-1800 is the usual for a good unit.
Well, I think that most people see "coilovers" for Hondas going for like 100-200 and think that we should have the same option....

I was so glad to get my H&Rs I almost threw the Maxspeeds away w/o trying to sell them. if coilovers are indeed made for you all, bite the bullet on price and have a DECENT set made like a one-pices unit! sleeves = da big suck

Some Tein flex coilovers for my neighbors S14 240sx cost $1400 or so.
Given that Matt is one crafty fellow, he'll probably be able to put something cool together at a comparable price for us 3rg gen folk.

been there done that too, had the same type of $150 ebay "coilovers" POS had them on a 93 del sol and 92 teg. trust me alot of the these low price parts for hondas are crap, Ive dealt with a lot of hondas and so much of the stuff made is crap, you will literally bounce to a stop at a light, so if you guys are comparing prices to that stuff understand its no where near the quality.

do you realize what kind of work would have to go into making these things for a 3rd gen? the entire rear strut would have to be fabbed from scratch... unless you go with the sleeved type..
and there's nothing wrong with the sleeve type IF YOU HAVE THE PROPER STRUTS!.
sticking sleeves on stock shocks (what many of the honduh guys do) is not the right thing to do. the spring rates are over 3x that of the factory springs, so it stands to reason that using stock shocks won't be enough damping.
Now, go with a better shock like the Konis and you've got a lot better chance of having a decent ride.
Also you've got to keep in mind the spring rates on these things. you can buy springs of different rates (stiffness) and length. most of the ones you see on the bouncy hondas are using REALLY stiff springs, dropped as far as they'll go, and still using stock shocks that bottom out on every bump. yeah, the ride WILL be crap when you do that.
that's where it comes time to choose proper spring rates and lengths..
As for what works on the Maxima? I'm working on it, that's all I can say. time frame is still open, cost is still open... but I CAN tell you that they won't be the cheapo $150 ebay crap. the only springs I will even consider using are Eibach ERS springs- the best out there- and they run $60 EACH for the springs. then you have to think of all the other parts involved. I'm not up to making custom shocks/struts, so the $2000, multi-adjustable ones are out of the question too..
what I WILL tell you is that I've got some stuff in the works, I'm almost done, but I've got a LOT of other projects going on (recent GDs on other parts).. and etc.
I have a fab shop laser cut the shapes on the brackets, but everything else is done by me, in my garage. it takes time to build all this stuff, and I'm only one human. It also takes a long time to find someone willing to talk to you when you mention coilovers on a Maxima. most of the time, I can hear people laugh while they're slamming the phone down on the hook.
so just be patient.. it's in the works, and I'll post info as soon as I have a completed, RELIABLE setup installed on a car and test driven for a while to ensure no problems.

Maybe me not replacing my struts/springs for now isn't such a bad idea after all.
