Should I replace Brake fluid?

My Maxima is 12 years old and I have never bled or replaced brake fluid. The seach function is down or I would use it, my question is - The fluid is black should I replace it? If so how much fluid should I buy and what kind of problems could I have if I just leave it.

I may need to do the same, as my car is also aging. I think in the US, for whatever reason brake fluid is not drained and replaced very often. I've heard that in Europe, that it is part of the typical maintence. So, it might be some cheap insurance...

Its always a good idea to change fluids periodically just for the well being of the car itself.
