Operation Parts Car (pics)

Antonthegrey and I went out to check out a parts car today, the only problem was it was advertised as a SE and it was a GXE The car was a 1990.

Anyway, for me it was a half and half sucessful trip, I wanted to get a y-pipe for little piggie, and SE tails for Pezking4 (even though they are VG, I figured its better than his cracked one ).

Here's what I got:
-GXE Gauges (just planning on selling them to anyone who needs or wants them, plus the plastic bezel is in pretty good shape.
-The interior part with the buttons on it that goes below the gauges but above the steering column. I had another spare, but it didnt have the cut out for the steering column tilt Mine has some scratches, and my switches arent in the best shape (cant really see the symbols at night, they look like white circles... kind of).
-The clock. I believe it works but I'll test it. Probably just resolder it anyway and sell it (i need gas money ).
-Turn Signals. Another member was saying he needs one so his car will pass inspection, so I grabbed both since I couldnt remember what one (think it was drivers)
-Power Comfort switch, I want to fill the hole in my car, but I dont like this one (its not the same as my old auto one. I'm just going to get my 5spd plate thing back from anton).

After I got back home I remembered that I want the rear adjustable parallel links (hell, probably both parallel links and radius arms lol).

I'll try to get Anton to post pics of the car and stuff, maybe we can grab stuff for people (we'll make another thread in the classifieds section if we do).

Here are the pictures of the parts I got:

Small question, did the gauge face font change for the 92-94 gxe's? Some of the GXE gauges I've seen are all curvy.

oh yeah, and since it was a GXE, It had the same wheel my car did. And I even brought along my steering wheel puller. It also didnt have ABS even though the guy said it did.

my 92 GXE had the swoopy numbers too. I think they changed them from 92 UP. GoldenIce youre car may have had the cluster changed.

hmm interesting...you sure its a 92? Got any pics?

I wonder why they would put it on some 92s and not others. Does yours have an airbag? Maybe the airbag models got them

Shawn, are you gonna use that A/T switch for your VTC controls? Because you should if you aren't

I should wire the VI to power and VTCs to comfort (even though my VI switch does nothing, and the VTC's would be comfort because Davebond always whines about them when they go off (funny because its not very often when I'm alone), so I'll need to flip the switch to 'comfort' him lol. (or open the door and kick him out )

Yeah your friends are annoying. I hope they will disappear for good.

Btw, give me that front fender? Where is the car, btw?

I'm 210% sure its a '92..my uncle bought it 2 weeks after a hail storm in Texas that left some very minor hail dings and cracked windows (which had been replaced by the dealer, but the dings were left un-repaired so he got a $4000 discount)..the car had been taken off the truck from the factory a week before the hail storm..He had the car until May 2001 when he sold it to me..he gave me ALL maintenance/repair records including oil changes, and I've recorded all I've done with the exception of oil changes..

mine has an airbag, that one he cannibalized didn't, but both have the same guages..

I've got pics but I haven't gotten them developed yet..after my next paycheck or if I get paid for an odd job or somthin I'll take them by wal-mart to be developed..

the only reason I can think of why some have different guages is if they switched midway through the year, and mine is an early '92 and the ones with the curvy guages were later..

your last statement makes sence and is probably the reason. I find it odd that they would wait until half way through a model year to switch though but you know how car manufacturers are sometimes.

Yeah your car is at least a 92 if it has an air bag. Thanks for the info...thats something I didnt know.
