Crusing Speed II with PICS

Ok so i opened up my old guage cluster and found that conversion that i was talkin about and it makes no sence to me, I know that my engine is tuned as best as its gunna get and im runnin 2,000 - 2,100 RPMs at 60mph and the speedo conversion says 60mph = 1024RPM thats offly low and dunno how i could get that low if i tryed , Anyway is this just some sort of electronic conversion or something??What do u guys think??? You can see the conversion on the bottom right of the speedo kinda blurry but as clear as i could get it. Says 60mph=1024RPM

my gauges say the same thing but i have no clue what it means.

if you are wanting to make sure your speedo is reading the correct speed get a stop watch and drive 1 mile at 60 mph. after 60 seconds you should go exactly 1 mile.

it has nothing to do with cruising speed. it's jsut Nissan's way of calibration.

what it means, is that the gear in the transmission that sends the signal to the gauge turns 1024 RPM at 60MPH, it has NOTHING to do with your engine.

If you had the engine off and rolled the car down a hill at 60, the transmission sender would still turn at 1024 RPM, indicating 60 on the speedo if properly calibrated..

Going only one mile will introduce human error. You're never quite as close to perfectly starting and stopping the timer as you think. A better way is to drive 5 or more miles. This lets you spread the same amount of error over more miles.

I've calibrated several cars this way and it was the way State Trooper cars used to be calibrated before they were done electronically.
