Got in an accident - the car won't start!!??

I was pretty sleepy and things have been going on at home, but anyways someone turned (my fault), and their back bumper(SUV), crashed through my passenger side headlight. The front side body panel and the hood are ruined, but it didn't hit anythiing mechanically, and compltely missed the bumper!
But the radiator overflow got pushed against a belt (supposely the air conditioner belt), and I guess it is what stopped the engine. The belt probably needs to be replaced because it's a bit tattered, but the car should start!
I heard there is something in many cars that stops the engine from working in a front end collision, is there anythign like that in our 91 maxima? There's power, but won't even turn over.
Whats a good way to diagnose it (tow it down to autozone to test alternator ect, and go from there)?

Stupid accident, more poor baby... My insurance will go up as well, and I got a citation, from now on I will stay back on people that fail to use their signal light when slowing my fault

Hope so, have to check tommorrow morning... So there isn't some kind of safety device when rammed? It was on the passenger side front, completely splintered headlight and blinker, crunched up side there, and just impact with hood.
The radiator overflow got pushed up against the belt... and it vut thru but stopped, it couldn't have blown out the (small)motor driving it, could it?

it may have stopped because it stalled out when you hit the car, that happened in my gxe, but it started back up afterwards, I would check to make sure nothing is pushed so far that its stopping any belts from turning. and the fuseable links

Yeh, hopefully one of them blew out because the belt was jammed... :L
The fuseable links are the big fuses for the main parts of the engine, according to what I could find from the online chiltons manual?
I assume it's less than safe to leave a slightly tattered belt on, rather than getting and installing a new one?
If I can get everything working, I'm still going to be driving a multi color car until I can paint it this summer
