Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could somebody do me a humongus favor and please list all the possible reasons why my rpm drops so low that the the car vibrates when I am at a red light, I think it might be due to the fact that I need to change my spark plugs but due to my lack of knowledge of cars I need some help as the subject reads. Any and all responses will greatly appreciated. I really need to solve this problem it's annyoing the hell out of me. Guys please don't roast me I know you guys get redundant questions like this all the time please just lend a helping hand, this is the reason why you guys were blessed with the knowledge to help someone like me so HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!.

I'd recommend picking up a Chilton's 85-92 Maxima repair book. Not the best, but decent if you have nothing else. It gives some steps to raise the idle speed. Other wise bad airfitlers, spark plugs, EGR valves or vacuum leaks are common. I'd start with a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Then I'd do a tune up, with new filters, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor and maybe spark plug wires. New fuel filter.

Tune up is always a good idea but if it doesn't idle - mostly likely it is a vacuum leak (bad EGR or PCV valves, cracked vacuum hoses).

Good luck!

Engine lopes while idling or idles erratically:
1. vacuum leakage
2. leaking EGR valve
3. air filter clogged
4. fuel pump not delivering sufficient fuel to the fuel injection system
5. leaking head gasket
6. tining belt and/or sprockets worn
7. camshaft lobes worn
8. throttle body ports clogged

Engine misses at idle speed:
1. spark plugs worn or not gapped properly
2. faulty spark plug wires
3. vacuum leaks
4. incorrect ignition timing
5. uneven or low compression

You also can bring your car to a dealer to check computer codes.

My car did a similar thing. However, it was only once it warmed up but not when it was cold. (closed loop vs. open loop) So I replaced my O2 sensor and now it idles fine. The old one was covered with black soot. Now if I could just locate a grade 7 M12x1.25 bolt I would be in business...

When it's warm outside it's not that bad, when the temperature drops it gets irritating.

Try some fuel injector cleaner after your tune-up.

If it is when stopped only, that points either toward an idle adjustment or an EGR valve. When the EGR (Ehaust Gas Return) valve goes you will typically have to rev the engine when stopped to keep it from stalling. You should notice a car in need of a tune-up or fuel or filter problems when driving as well.
