audio recordings of my car

Finally got out and recorded what my car sounds like today. Until I find a good video camera this is the best I can do.

First part is just my car at idle with the mic behind the car. (its a bit too close which is why it sounds like crap when i rev it a little bit)

2nd part - recorder is in the engine bay. doing a bit of short shifting in the first half 2nd half is a 2nd gear "run"

3rd part - the 2nd gear "run" inside the car

4th - 1st and 2nd gear run w/ mic in engine bay

5th - same 1st and 2nd gear run with mic in the car

You might turn your volume down a bit because I was using two recorders at the same time so the volume tends to variate a bit, sorry about that.

You can't open it, you have spaces in the address... and even when I close the spaces it doesn't work =/

fixed

only thing that bites about the recording is you can't hear the turbo very well. i'm still trying to figure out a way to allow the recorder to pick it up better.

Sounds like you need to get a Canon A70. Althogh it's a digital picture camera, it does shoot video at 640x48 and the microphone in it seems to pick up everything crystal clear. I have a few videos that just sound awesome.

the org's automatic link thingy put the url code before it should have due to the spaces. if had put the %20 in it would have done it correctly but i don't like the %20

You can click the button once and it'll adjust to the lighting/zoom/etc and record til it fills the card up (only at 320x280 though, at 640x480 the buffer is only 25s). It records them in AVI.

With my 256m card at 328x280 I can store about 15 minutes of video. Or, about 300 pictures at full res (2048x1536 with awesome jpeg compression).

either 2.5" or 2.25" (can't remember what size they used but i'm leaning towards 2.5) from the turbo to the magnaflow muffler, nothing in between.

Sounds awesome! Damnit, I was set on just fixing my Maxima for now (rather than turbocharging it), so I can afford to do an rb26 swap into my Z. Though, I think I might hold off and turbo my Maxima!

i'll try finding some sort of video recording device in this house. there has to be one somewhere. if not, i'll have to go out and grab one some time soon. i have a few more recordings where you can actually hear the turbo so those will be up soon.

if you want I will even setup a redirected subdomain for you, or you could do it with your familys site. Then it would be http://thatslowmaxima.digitalbeta.net or whatever. "thatslowmaxima" would be you of course

I have a buddy who runs a server hosting business that'd probably be able to cut out a great deal on some hosting (like $3/mo or somethin, just pay by the year).

Btw, www.godaddy.com for all domain registrations. All.

Btw, if you want some server space, I can get you some on www.launch2k.com. It's basically an uncapped 10mbit line out of Texas. You can have like a couple hundred megs or somethin. It'd be of course you.launch2k.com or launch2k.com/you. Back when my cable line was uncapped, I downloaded at 700k/s from my server (which was about the peak data rate my modem could handle).
