it can be done but there's a bit of custom fab work necessary for the swap. i put 4th gen rear seats in my car but decided to cancel the project when a set of good condition 3rd gen leather seats came up for sale.
here's a pic of the rear seats.

as you can see it was only half way done...and yes i did end up getting black seat belts.![laugh](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/laugh.gif)
IMO they're not as comfortable as the 3rd gen rear seats.

any pointers on the rear seat -shock-?
i like the way they look alot more, and i need a new rear seat anyway (sun faded mine and i'd rather not get it recovered)..hopefully someone with black cloth will be kind and hook me up.

i know the 3rd gen seats are more comfortable, ive slept in my car on numerous occasions. (its great when you have to work til 4 and be back at 7) and ive tried to fall asleep in a 4th gen and it just aint happenin.
plus i wouldnt ever want to get rid of my back seat, too many fond memories LOL

well the A$$ cushion fits in there no problem...basically a direct swap. as for the back cushion...one of the hardest parts is finding a way to secure the top of the seats(by the rear deck).
what i did was, cut out some foam on the back of the seat and wrap an l-bracket around the metal frame on the seats. then i bent the l-bracket so that it was straight. so now you have 3 l-brackets on the back of the cushion that can slip through the holes in the rear deck (note: the clips that the 3rd gen seats clip into on the rear shelf had to be removed).
so now it kinda sits in position but the l-brackets aren't being held in so the top of the seat is still somewhat loose. so i drilled a hole through each of the l-brackets and from inside the trunk fed a bolt through the hole and that kept nice and snug at the top of the seat...
as for the bottom edges of the back cushion which are screwed in beside the doors they weren't very easy at all...i think i just held them down with some zip ties because there was no way in hell that they could be bolted into the stock position...and the center bolts behind the armrest worked out pretty easy. the bracket that's on the thin cross beam didn't line up very well to the bracket on the back cushion so i just drilled out some more accurate holes and that's basically it
but if i were you, i'd seriously try and talk to shavedmax regarding this project because he completed the front and rear seat swap PLUS he's much better at this sort of thing than i am.
i hope my explanation helped a little though...realistically the only way to do it is just have the seats there and see what works...i think everyone would do this swap a little different than the next guy.

i suppose the only other thing i could ask for is a pic of the top part, i have NO idea what you're talking about there. as far as the side bolting points go, i could care less, right now i have the middle bolts, and the top all secured and the seat is fine.
thanks!
