running on 5 cylinders

Hello, I have a '94 GXE. Number 3 cylinder is not working. At first this problem was intermitent.I checked plug firing,ok. So I thought fuel injector was bad.I bought a complete rail off eBay for 75 dollars and installed.Well fuel injector is not the problem, because problem is still there. I bench tested my old injectors and all injectors are fine.At least I have a good complete fuel rail if needed or I may sell. Anyways,I'm going to start looking into valve train.Remember, problem at first was intermitent. Are lifter failures common on these? Compression seems ok, although not checked with guage yet.I accidentaly started engine without sparkplug in hole, sounded like plenty of compression. There isn't any unusual noise in valve area.I'm 99.9% sure cylinder is getting spark and fuel. I am kinda at a loss right now. Any bright ideas?
Thanks, Mark

I'd be willing to bet that you still have a bad injector.
do you have a noid light available to you?
make sure that you have signal to the injector too.

There is a whole differant set of injectors installed now.I checked with light and shows ok,checked with stethoscope and solenoid is clicking same as others, voltage check, checks out as others.I don't know if a voltage test is a good test for these, but getting btwn 13-14 volts to ground both wires.I'm getting same readings at all injectors.Man, I wish it was just an injector at this point.

Alright I hate to admit to this .......but.Upon further checking I found the injectors I bought are fine.My old number #5 injector was bad [0 ohms]as I had thought. My problem after installing the new set of injectors was I had the #3 and #5 spark plug wires swapped.Funny engine had same symptoms as before I replaced injectors. At least I didn't spend that money for nothing.Just caused myself some grief.
Thanks for your response, Mark
