Is this normal?

Had the tokiko /ebiach combo done about a month ago and have been getting noise (clunk when I hit bumps / airy squeak when I push down on the back of the car) so I took a pic:

Is the hole at the top of the strut normal or is the allignment off? Is there anything I should look for that would indicate damage to the struts? Could the noise just be due to the cold?
Thanks for any help
- Gil

Do you know if all related suspension parts were torque'd to spec?

I believe that means blown strut
Ask Jeff

(also if Jeff did it, it's been done right....I'm sure plenty of the NY guys in here can attest to that).

that hole is there to allow water/dirt to run off the strut rather than accumulate in that little trough when u drive in the rain.

Yup that's what I think it is. That happend to me. I have st springs w/kyb gr2. I'm on my 2nd pair of struts. I had to change the bushings as well. ball joints. So far so good. Thats the thing, when you mod the springs the chances of blowing you struts are a bit higher, because of the road condition. pot hole, bumps, etc. i have to go to my mech to check my struts and front end to see if they are good. I live in newark, nj so the roads are really bad.
