umm, dude... do a bit of reading online about it. google ownz joo.

it's freaking hinges from home depot and a couple screws.

besides that, the trunklid doesn't fit back on right and rattles if you have a system in the trunk.

So do like the SPL freaks... weld steel plates onto the corners of the trunk and bolt the lid down when you don't want it open.

I think the guy here is e_is_chillin

this is his car:

to each his own...I don't mind that mod because you can't see it when you are driving down the road (like you can an aluminum wing or lots of stickers)

Instead of making your car look like ghetto crap, why don't you spend the money on something useful, like suspension parts?

Alright well first off i couldn't even find a boot for $5 but if I get a good reason why not to I wouldn't do it. But if i get it looks stupid or it looks bad or ghetto or anything that doesn't discourage me.

He means the hinges r $5. I would just ask e_is_chillin because he still has his. I say each to their own I want to do that because it would be very unique down here. Plus, I don't care about rattle, my trunk alredy does that now

I care about the ratteling though so hopefully i could come up with something tighter or closer or something to figure out how to make it not do that.

Maybe try sum an extra thick rubber weather strip where the OEM is. I would try that, but don't know where down here to get the stuff.

I like both the stock trunk AND that "flip flop" trunk..EXCEPT, the flip flop lid looks kinda strange while its open without a spoiler, and *ALL* spoilers/wings look pretty lame on 3rd gen maximas IMO..the ONLY exception I've seen, is a low profile spoiler on a VERY dark blue car with 5% tint on all side and rear windows, preferrably with shaved rear door handles, in which case I like the way it looks..

Cosmetic mods and performance mods each have their place..IMO maximas don't belong completely to one side or the other..but, do what YOU like to YOUR car, and don't let what anyone says about the way it looks discourage you..

Hey man if you like it go for it! To each his own. I have a ported box in my car and the port leads through the max's rear deck. No rattling here. Oh and no leaking either. The only downside is that when the trunk is closed it doesnt align like if it was stock.
