missing when cold and more...
For some reason my seems to miss really bad when I start it up when cold outside. It misses at idle but I've also revved it to around 3000 rpm and it was still missing. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Also, when I let off the gas while driving around I get the nasty ricer "pop pop" sound when the engine's revs are going down. Is this a sign of running rich or lean? I would think it would mean I'm running rich since there would be a lot of unburnt gas in the exhaust but I've also heard running lean causes nasty popping noises so now I have no clue which it would be. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks in advance

oh yeah. also, anyone know why my car would just act like its giving no power up around 5500 rpm? when i run first gear out it almost feels like the rev limiter kicks in around 5500 rpm. its really annoying and i can't figure out what the problem is.

missing at Idle and rpm range
It's could be your timing is off. I've seen a few where the timing belt
actually slips a tooth or two on either cam sproket. That will definetly
make it the engine miss and backfire. Set your crank to the 0-degrees
BTDC. Then remove the top T-belt cover and make sure the markings
on the cams are lined with the marks on the backing plate. If not, then
your timing belt has slipped. Good luck. Vacum leak won't make it backfire.

You mentioned it's missing when cold, do you have these problems after it's at operating tmep? It sounds like a ignition related problem. You need to check your entire secondary ignition system for signs of arching. Components being cap (that's already changed), rotor, plugs, wires and possibly ignition coil.
Also, if you can find a dark place (away from the city lights, the darker the better) pop your bonet and see if you see any arching. You might see the actual spark arching to ground all over the place. Check at idle and at higher rpm.
