gonna pull the VG out

OK, I am about to start parting out the old 91 max and I am curious as to which is easier in my case as far as pulling the power train. I have a cherry picker, its realy cold out, and the ground is usualy wet or cold. Would it still be easier to drop the motor out the bottom in these things, or with a cherry picker, do they come up easy enough? Other option would be to put some 4x4s under the cross member and trans and lift the car off the motor with the cherry picker :-)

10x easier to pull it from the top. Don't know if you can get the engine and tranny together out in 1 piece without alot of hassle and banging up all the lines in the engine bay thougth.
I've pulled my Ve out both ways. Dropping the engine requires you to life the front of car WAY off the ground. And dropping it down w/o a GOOD engine jack is impossible because the engine will just slip off the small jack and fall off.
Taking out from the top is alot easier. There are no hooks but you can find decent places to support the engine easy. If you unhook the hood supports, the hood even tilts all the way back onto the windshield w/o removing it! Just make sure you cushion the area inbetween the two. ie boxes/thick carpet etc..

Did I forget to mention the car is totaled. Dont realy care about crushing any lines realy, also the windshield is already cracked and the hood needs some paint anyway :-)

Well then, rent a plasma cutter and just cut the front end off. Unhook everthing and just drag the engine out of the big hole.

A/C lines will have to be opened anyway, I dont plan on keeping the A/C on a car that doesnt have a motor ya know?
