regular E36 vs. projector E36

can anyone give me a little advise on the difference of the regular E36 lights and the projector E36 type install. I have the install directions on the standard E36 light assemblies, but is there much difference in the projector/DDE assembly. tighter fit, more cutting, will they work. I appreciate the feedback. If someone has succesfully done the projector/dde pics would be great!

One thing is that the projector unit is much bigger as its biggger in depth. Also the bulb sizes are different, the U.S. spec lights use a 9006 and 9005 while the projector ellipsoida by ZKW uses H1 bulbs. Also the U.S. spec lights are plastic while the ellipsods are glass. Wiring should be about the same amount of work just that they use different bulbs.

Thanks! The biggest problem though is that mine tend to fog up a little. I guess when it warms up I'll have to go around em with the caulk.

I have that same problem, Brad! But most of that is because I've had to 'crack open' the casing to replace the bulbs on my angel eyes, and didn't seal them back all the way in a spot or two.

Oh, well... just means that warm weather will mean pulling those puppies out yet AGAIN.

... and check if that "breather" at the back of the headlight is still in -
I forgot to put back one of those in the headlight and it was the cause of "cloudiness" in it. Just a thought.
Also I'n going to put "blackout tape" over silicone for additional seal - just in case.

The euro spec E36 headlights require alot more cutting and if you are up to it the extra light output and looks is worth it. I've made a few Bimmer guys say 'Those are the headlights i want and you got them on Maxima???'
