brake cost
WHAT!? dude... ef that, for 500 bucks you should get a new car with the brakes.
get a basic ratchet set and do it ur self.. its soo easy! once u take the wheel off ur only like 2 bolts away from the rotor and the pads slip right out
- the rears a alittle more of a pain in the *** but nothing technical.
-good (regular) pads cost 50 bucks
and new rotors are like 40.. but thats if u need them if u dont need them u can get a shop to re suface them (8 bucks a piece) or hit them with some emery cloth
yerself..
get a manual.. it will save u money in the long run (and short run too)

whoever told you 500 never go back and do business with them again. brand new calipers for our cars don't cost that much... heck people buy the z32 alum calipers and do not pay that much.. then again.. what exactly is wrong with your calipers?
I replaced both rear calipers last year and they were $45 a piece it came to be $130 with the core charge, total for both. You also need a special tool for the rear calipers inwhich you have to spin the piston back in other than just try to push it in.
Brand new calipers or remans would be about $200-ish, new rotors $160-ish. Pads $40-ish. That's $400. A few hours labor $100. So if you pay full retail, that's not out of the question for all of the above.
jeff are you talking about full price at a nissan dealership? aren't rotors at a local parts store brand new for like 20 bucks each? at least that's what i paid.. and calipers for 50 - 60 each?

$400? I guess at the dealer. Remanned calipers $120, Raybestos Pro-stops (quietstops) $35, Brembo blanks $100. Brake fluid $5. That's $260. He would also need a buddy that's done this before to bleed brakes (case of beer $15).
Total $275
