Front Corner lights cracked

I installed some APC lights for my corner lights (the clear ones).they were kind of warm after i left them on and i turned all of them off. There was some residue on my headlights and the corners so i sprayed some rubbing alcohol on it. It got the residue off my headlights but when i sprayed my corner lights, I just heard a loud cracking sound, and the corner must of cracked into 40 pieces. it is still intact but theres just so many cracks that water can leak into now.

Has anyone experienced this? Or know why this happend?

Rubbing alcohol evaporates (and carries the heat away) much faster than water. And since the cornerlight housing was warm to the touch, a sudden drop in temperature can cause it to crack.
