how hard is it and what do i need to have besides the motor to do a vg to ve swap. Is it also worth the effort as well on a 183,000 miles on my vg.

its really easy. sell your car and buy a car with a VE in it. Seriously.

You would have to swap wiring harnesses, ECUs etc.

not gonna happen trust me ive looked into to it for a friend. not only are the ecu/engine wiring harness different but the whole car wiring harnesses are different becaue the VE need all these extra fuses and relays for the coil packs and other stuff. its hard to explian but just look at the wiring diagrams in the FSM.

2 feasable options

1 VG30ET swap

2 buy a ve 5spd

OMG. I cant believe you would ask this question. Everyone knows Stillen sales the best kit, they even have a discount when you buy the awd conversion kit with it.

I did this swap before and it's pretty simple here's the instructions (you don't need a kit)

VG to VE Swap (Detailed instructions)

1. Go to autotrader.com. Place an ad to sell a car that has the exact specifications as yours.

2. Then when you receive calls on it, go ahead and actually sell your car to the person that will give you the most money.

3. Then, go to a financial institution, commonly known as a "bank", and get some more money. This step is easiest if you go the bank that actually has YOUR money.

4. Return to autotrader.com and use the money from the sale, and the money from the bank to purchase a VE.

The beauty of this swap is that you can do many popular conversions (5spd swap, rear disc conversion, ABS conversion) for a relatively low amount of money, time, and effort (see #3), compared to what it takes to swap all that stuff yourself.

Hope this helps

don't waste ur time i asked this question a long time ago and i also heard the motor mounts r positioned differently i think. ur better off getting rid of ur GXE and get a VE SE 5-speed. good luck.
