Bought a new k&n cone air filter...but a install question

I tried to put the thing on and the opening is way bigger then the one I have gotten "Generic" from autozone and other auto parts stores. Then I get on ebay and find that there is a custom adapter that nobody just sells seperate.

The K&N cone air filter is a universal(ru2520) one but I thought it would fit because that is what I found when doing research on here.

Does anybody have this filter?? If yes did you get it with an adapter or how you get the thing to fit.

Guess im going to have to resort to buying another generic one from Autozone. After I sell this one!

Just buy a 3" MAF adapter, then the filter will fit on that

I already have a 3" MAF adapter on there. I guess I got the wrong filter although it was suggested on this forum. I wanted a better quality filter too. Oh well

You needed to buy a K&N cone filter with a 3" opening. Since yours is bigger, it probably has a bigger opening for larger tubes (or MAF adapters). I would just go back and exchange it for one with a 3" opening. Maybe you should bring your MAF adapter in with you, so you can be sure it is the right size.

K&N makes a wide variety of sizes and shapes on their cone filters. Some are bigger than others for different applications. Even though they say "universal" they are only universal for that size of tubing.

look at the variety of sizes and openings they have...

Yeah the bending will not want work

And you should of not had to bend. Plus I dont want to bend a $30 filter. I was just a goof and didnt actual notice which one I was buying. I bought it online from AJUSA.com and they are going to let me exchange it.
