sport shift in an automatic

has anyone heard of a way to "sport shift" an automatic transmission. I heard that if you start in D1, then go to D2, then to D, you get a better acceleration. Anyone know anything about this?

Dude... just get a manual. You're gonna end up screwing up your already weak auto tranny.

Besides, all you gotta do is put the pedal to the floor and it will shift at redline and give you the best acceleration possible on your auto tranny.

C'mon dude. Think about it. What do the 1-2-D settings do? 1 will keep it only in the first gear, 2 only in second, while D chooses best gear based on speed and throttle pressure.

So if you start from a stop with shifter in 1, then shift to 2, and then D, it will accelerate fairly fast. BUT, you will get the same response by setting the A/T switch to S....THAT'S what it is meant for--shifting at high RPMs. Or keeping it in the A/T setting and flooring the gas. I don't use the 1-2-D method for accelaration as I just use S Mode, but I sometimes decelarate by shifting from D to 2....BUT only when the speed is low enough.

Simple logic.

or throw in a 5speed, man i drove an auto last week (VE) lol ill never ever buy one.
it drove me nuts, dont get me wrong, great car, nice acceleration same as mine, but compared to a 5speed it just looses its appeal to me.
5speed POWA !!!!!

Once you go WOT, the power/comfort switch doesn't really matter anymore

All the switch does is make the car shift at higher rpms. That's it

If you floor the A/T it automatically goes into power mode.
I think I'm gonna wire up my power light to my dash cluster, like my old suby had.
nothing like flooring the car and a light coming on that says "POWER"
