did anyone blow there car up when installing rsb links?
Hey, ppl
- i just got out from under my car TRYING to install the left side blemco. rsb link...i thought ehh maybe i dont need to put this link in the same spot as the old stock link... so i drilled my holes, put the bolts in, over-tightend one and broke the head off of it!! GREAT GOOD JOB CHRIS !!.. so i just said " ahhh Fu*k it, ill get it welded on tomorrow. so i droped the car and went to see it the link would even reach the "L" braket that i just bolted up. did it reach?? NOPE of course not...
- just a question, will i have to worry about sparks melting the fuel filler tube? when im grinding the hell out of the old link fixture?
- and im just trying to think what other problems I'm going to make for my self...
-this is just an example of an ez job gone wrong and im ****ed, excuse my venting

This is a very simple job but it requires proper prior planning to avoid poor performance. I recommend avoiding the easy route and doing it the right way the first time. In your case, it would probably be in your best interest to take it to a shop.
Didn't have a problem when Jeff was fixing his links. I still need to mount mine (my stock ones aren't broken either, lol).
Matt- If you read this what size drill bit would your recommend? Just save me the 2 minutes to match them up to the bolts and find one

i'll just weld it on tomorrow, but i need to find a grinder.. cuz there is no way i can get down to fresh metal with out one...
-ef shops they would probly charge me like 50 bucks or some other crazy price.
Shawn.. forgot to reply tot he drill bit size last night.. I'm pretty sure it's a 7/64" bit you need. those are 1/4" screws and if you ust anything smaller, the self-tappers won't cut the threads...
next ones I send out, I'll be using self-drilling and tapping screws to make life a little easier. they seem to be stronger, but I didn't have a problem with these so I assumed they'd be okay.

yeah its not your stuff at all (matt)... i just find a way to fu*k **** up every time... yes i have a welder, it's not a good one, but it gets the job done.. and its fun!
.. i should take pics of my other rsb link weld, i got soo much weld on.. mad happy about that
- its raining out today so i dont think ill be doing any car work.

just to make you feel better, when i welded my brackets on (i dont even have good links yet...) i slipped with a bad@$$ die grinder and nicked the rear brake line..that was an interesting drive home..2 hours of work (mostly playing around) later and all is well, even though i still havent installed the rear sway.

Piggie was able to weld them easy. Standard angle iron from Hope depot and a drill. Then weld them up. I've never broke the other parts of the rsb links *knock on wood* so I did it this way. If you have Matt's stuff, I'd grind the area down, mount the links then add two good weld beads on his angle iron.

matt- any employment openings at blemco.? (need a test dummy, that gets free parts to try?)
i think im going to ask my uncle to help, i think he has a body shop or somthin, but i never talk to him. he has to have grinder and a GOOD welder.

Did the sway bar seem a little wide on your install?
wow.. big reply, all thoes "quotes"
-yes, the bar seemed really big, i thought i got the wrong kit at first cuz they gave me the wrong bolts.. i had to go out and buy others myself (addco got a nice e-mail about that) but from my experiences their known for mixing parts up.
-i know u didn't use welds .. duuuuuuu
-what do i ppl think of my welds?? the pic isnt that good i know.. cuz they welded areas are sprayed over and u really cant see the weld.
-WOW 3.3 thats nice, i have 3.1 it takes OK pics, i dont like.
- i asked a shop today if they can grind off that piece for me... the guy quoted me 20 bucks!!! thats the reason i dont go to stupid shops!.. how the ef am i going to get this part off.?

94max- i dunno, the rsb took me about an hour to install my self.

If you PAID to have it installed, you paid too much!! This is a ~1hr install with hand tools and a drill!!
but if you don't have the tools and a place to install it, then yeah.. $100 is about right.
Cheezer, those welds.... ummm, to be honest, I've seen blind people do better than that. then again, it's a stick welder.. you're not going to get very good with a stick weld anyway- especially on stuff that small and hard to get to.
