try some fuel injector/system cleaner...a 7 dollar bottle could save you from buying a new injector or stop it from causing future/serious problems

The octane rating of your gas will not benefit your injectors...

I'm going to get flamed for this, but there's a misconception that "premium gas" is better -- it's not, it just takes more pressure to cause it to combust.

With that said, IT IS recommended that you use premium in the maxima, but I don't, my parents/brother hadn't used it for 12 years and my engine runs great. (The timing may be retarded as a result, but the difference is negligable.) (I tried premium after having the battery disconnected and didn't notice a difference.) The compression ratio on a max appears low enough to safely use regular or midgrade.

Now watch everyone flame me...

If you want proof check out this article (notice the quote from Jim Blenkarn (Nissan Powertrains)

Also here's an interesting article about octane:

Watch out what additives you put into your gas tank/crank case, if they have teflon in them do not use it (ex. the Z-Max engine treatment stuff). I only use Seafoam and Marvel Mystery Oil.

Also Zach, your right about that, the higher the Octane the slower the gas burns.

Hi,

would a slick 50 help the fuel injector?

or any 2 or 3 dollar bottle help?

I would have to go look at the bottle, but like I was saying I only use Seafoam and MMO, seafoam mainly just for the intake, MMO for the crank, and then flip a coin for the gas tank

Maybe, but probablly not, I have heard from some people that techron is the best intake additive you can buy, but there's a lot of assumption and hear say regarding such matters. 3M makes an aresol product that connects to fuel line --my dad use to own an econolube so I got this done cheaply and is actually worked!

However, conventional wisdom is that anything that can clean out an injector will also damage the injector (plus you're likely to redeposit all the cra.. you have between the gas tank and the injector (especially if you have an old fuel filter.) Also, if your injector is completely clogged there is almost no chance anything you put in the tank will reach the injector.

Despite all this, I would probablly try the $3 bottle (or try the seafoam or whatever...) and see what happens, you're next option would be to replace / ultrasonically clean your injectors anyway so why not? I would (and have) also change(d) my fuel filter before putting any injector cleaner in your tank total cost? $13 and changing the fuel filter in a good practice anyway.
