Master Cyl leak

I'm sorry if this has been posted before -- I tried searching using yahoo > advanced search > maxima.org only and couldn't find anything..

I have an '89 SE auto w/o ABS

Anyway, my master cylinder is leaking where it connects to the brake booster. I assume I need to replace the MC (as opposed to replacing a gasket etc.) It's only $60 at autozone, so that's not too bad. It doesn't look too complicated either..

Does anyone know of write-up on this, or have any general advice? I know I have to bench bleed the system, and there was a really good post on this, but I lost the link..

Also, do I need a vacume-pump to do this? (According to the autozone repair guide, I'm suppose to use it to adjust the output rod length.

Thanks?
Zach

If you dont have a bench you can bleed it when it's mounted in the car. Just make sure when you get the new ms it has the bleeding kit with it. Bascially some plastic fittings and two rubber hose. I assume you're firmiliar with the process of bleeding the ms. Don't forget the bleeding kit.

Thanks -- got the one with the bleed kit (it was a Nissan core.)
I also bought a vacuum pump even though I don't really need it (it was only $25) ..I just seemed like an interesting tool to have.

Does anyone know where the thread re: bleeding is? It was really good, it should be in the general maintance sticky.

Yeah, it's only a couple of bolts and two 10mm lines to unscrew. Then all you have to do is bleed all 4 brakes like spddracer said.
