Installing a Aftermarket HeadUnit (94 max)

I would love for someone to help me with my installation. I attempted to install an Aiwa Headunit in my 1994 Maxima SE.

I purchase a harnes and a antena adapter. I hooked everything together and I received power the unit shows it receiving signal from the radio and plays CD's just that there is no sound what-so-ever coming out the speakers.

If anyone has ever experience this and solved it, please share your solution to my problem.... thanks

Do you have Bose? If so I believe that is your problem. From what I know they only work with the stock bose unit since they have their own amplifiers and weird ohm rating and stuff. heh

You have bose (all SEs come with bose). THere are a couple of things you can do here.

1. Cut the speaker leads at the speaker to bypass the bose amp.

2. get an adapter that lets you convert you signal to low level so it will not blow the amp. You will need to hook up your remote turn on lead to the bose turn on...that will turn your bose amps on.

3. Just hook up the remote turn on lead and play it like that until you blow the amps/ speakers and just buy new speakers and replace the bose stuff. I know I have seen a few people say that did this and have had theirs working fine for years but I have not done it so I cant give personal experience.

I just ripper out the rear amp this weekend, I also have a newer panasonic deck. I found that the rear amp was blown ( the 120K resistor) I will try it with a larger resistor and see what happens! Also while was back there I noticed that both wheel wells had a cut ( 1" x 2")in the top of them letting elements in to my car! is this normal ?

it was probably caused by rust...that is a common problem on the 3g max...i had 2 holes on each wheelwell...and 3 along the floor of the trunk

I have an SE with bose but there is a Sony cd player in there. It appears to be dealer-installed, or maybe not. Does this mean that I can just hook up another Sony and it will work? If it is a Sony, doesn't that mean that the amp or whatever is already bypassed?
