cooling fans

Maybe I'm just paranoid but the cooling fans on my 1991 Maxima seem to only work when I turn on the AC . I drove the car for about 10 miles and then popped the hood , no fans . I let it idle for about 15 minutes , the gauge was about 3/4 the way towards H but still no fans . I also noticed the fans turn on briefly when turning the key off .
Is there any way to check the temperature switch located near the thermostat housing or is there a relay that could possibly be bad ?

One other item , the keyless entry pads are dead - no lights beeps etc. They did seem to work briefly after reconnecting the battery after it had been disconnected for a few days . Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or observations .

Check the radiator fan switch by bypassing it.

there is a temp sending sensor that screws into your thermostst housing, that could be the problem, also these max's tend to build up corrosion theere also, there should be a yellow looking connector on it.

i wonder if there is a way to install a switch so if we are diving hard we can flip a switch and have the fans come one but also have them come on they they are soposed to.
