Hi, what it means by VTC?
I HAVE A 92 SE AND I HAVE A PROBLEM, WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON STARTS KNOCKING THEN STOPS AND AGAIN STARTS KNOCKING. ALSO THE POWER DICREASES A LOT.
I WAS THINKING MAY BE CAN BE THE TIMING CHAIN, OR CAN BE A COIL?
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

VTC units are attached to your cams.. they work somewhat similar to VTEC in hondas. the noises you're hearing are the VTC solenoids going bad. the power loss is because of it.
the parts are about $450/side to fix (2 cams, so you need 2 to do the whole engine).. labor is about $1200/side to replace.
if you know your way around an engine and have a service manual, you can do it yourself. but I don't recommend it if you don't KNOW you can do it.
