Auto question for 92-94 SE's
what mods "cure" the sluggish 1st gear start. Apparently every auto maxima that i've driven has this problem. From a roll and in high speed, there are fasirly fast; but from a stop, you wonder where did all the power go.
:deezo: |
more power... higher stall TC, other bolt-ons...
the gearing is too tall in the autos, and there'w not much you can do about it but add power to overcome it. |
5spd swap or nitrous is the only way

Talk to Aaron.
But no matter what you do, it is still an auto. On the street a 5 speed can be RIGHT with you off the line and DESTROY you up top. :bill: |
As people already said, you just need more power. That's all. As fast as I am, I still have a sluggish low end on the street, with my street tires and full interior.
But, I recommend to get these things first: Cold Air Intake Ypipe UDP Slap all those mods on at the same time and you'll have a nice little smile when you experience the wrath of your top end power. But low end will still be sluggish. So I went more extreme by doing this: Smaller Tires (JUST for the track) for better gearing. It makes the gears much shorter. And a high stall torque converter will shorten that sluggish lag in low end. With those mods, you will be easily cutting 2.20s at the drag strip and will beat a lot of cars out of the hole with perfect traction everytime. VLSD, automatic, small tires, TC are awesome things. The only way to be faster than that is get 22" MT slicks and spraying a 50 shot out of the hole for those 1.8 60's. :D |
thanx for the help guys. I havent owned a maxima in a long time and i need to learn the basics.
