I have a 1993 DOHC with 130,000 and I have no 2nd or overdrive! It's obvious I need a new tranny. Rebuild is going to be about 1500-2000. I found a 1992 DOHC tranny from a junkyard with 115,000 on it. I'm sure to install it would be 500. plus I need a new passenger side axle. Can I please get some opionins on whether I should get the junkyard tranny or not? Is there a good chance it will crap out too? Thanks.

 

get the junkyard one and go at it yourself

edit: find a 5spd and swap it!

 

Is this really something that is a do-it-yourself project? How long are we talking if I've never done something like this myself?
