hesitation(diff. from CCTF's post)

hello everyone
to this forum..... and the maxima world.

quick question.
my 92 se 5spd hesitates, but only when it's warm, and even then... only *sometimes*, and the sometimes only happen if i'm beating on it.... which i tend to do....... a lot.

anyway... it's got 155k mi and it's got an apc intake :P

basically what it'll do is it'll pause at 3 different points going up the rpms and feels sluggish.

and it's got a new coolant temp sensor, in case that was a suggestion, and i usually put plus(89octane?) in it, if not premium, but that's only when i have money to throw around

anyway..
thank you for any help

kurt

but wouldn't it do it all the time if it was the coilpacks?
i replaced the plugs and looked at each coil about a month ago..... but noticed no cracks... i'll look again..

i was thinking knock sensors also... the hesitation seems to have calmed down a bit since the bump to 89+.... also, if i keep it like half-throttle until about 4k, it'll pull decent, and then at about 4k i can feel the valves open, and if i give it full throttle, it'll pull hard to red.... i do this too much. but it's fun... :P

anybody know¿ it's not urgent, just annoying. thanks for the help

Mine had been the same way. Sometimes it does it some times it doesn't. Generally, only when it's warm and only when I stomp on the gas.

If you ask around, most people that have had the stalling problem replaced all of their coil packs with new ones. This is pretty spendy, as each one is around $60+ dollars. I think subs1000 was one of the first to tell me this, but there are others, too. I know that it DIDN'T work for Diego (Da-Max).

On my car, it did it much less when I replaced my front coil pack that was cracked badly In fact I drove it for months at a time in between stutters. When I put in NGK V-power spark plugs, it got much worse. MrGone and I tested or replaced almost everything possible: ECU, MAF, cam sensor, throttle sensor, bypassed knock sensor...

Still had the problem with all coil packs having no cracks. However, I got three used rear coil packs from a car that was not stalling a few days ago and zero problems. My theory is that the internals on the coils start to go at higher revs. I don't have a way to test them, so that will be my next project (getting an ohm tester) but I have marked each one, where it was and where I have the new ones.
